Apostle Paul along with Silas and Timothy came to Thessalonica from Philippi on his second missionary journey, stopping in both Amphipolis and Apollonia. He preached in the city’s synagogue, the chief synagogue of the region, for at least three weeks. His ministry was really strong, and he established a Jewish-Gentile church, although it was more heavily Gentile. When Paul faced great persecution at the hands of the mob, he fled to Veroia, but Thessalonians eventually forced him to leave there also.

Itinerary
Philippi full day tour from Thessaloniki
Our tour starts at 9:00 AM while picking you up from your hotel or AIRBNB anywhere at Thessaloniki city center. As our drive will take us about two hours to Philippi, we make one quick stop for coffee and beverages. Our first stop is at Apollonia village so to make our pilgrimage to Apostle Paul step. Plenty of commentary along the way and photo stops if required. Our next stop is at Saint Marina chapel a great sample of local church architecture at nice natural location. The Amphipolis lion statue is our next mid journey stop. We arrive at Philippi archaeological site around 12:00 AM. We visit the ancient theatre and the museum. We proceed our tour with a visit to Saint Lydia (the very first woman in Europe that baptized Christian by Apostle Paul) Baptistry. A great natural location and a great pilgrimage of Early Christianity. By late noon we head to Kavala, a wonderful and historical seaside city, where we taste Mediterranean cuisine, including local fish and seafood. Plenty of photo stops along our way. Our tour is really flexible and maybe altered as per your requirements. Round late noon, we get our way back to Thessaloniki. Arrival back at Thessaloniki city center around 7:00 PM
