Sithonia is geographically located in between the other two Halkidiki peninsulas Kassandra and Athos. It also represents many centuries of history as the rest of Greece and also mentioned in the writings of the great ancient Greek historian Thucydides. Mountain Itamos is located at the center of Sithonia providing a really unique combination of mountain slopes with sandy beaches. Sithonia landscape is covered with vineyards, forests, grasslands, shrub land and hills. It is a top location for those who enjoy nature, love tranquility and prefer outdoor activities.
It is also a great place for family holidays not only because of its natural beauty but also for not being overcrowded during summer. Sithonia is widely known for its stunning secluded beaches and carved coastal line.
We jumpstart our Sarti 4days tour early in the morning by picking you up from your hotel or AirBNB at Thessaloniki. After approx. 45 minutes driving we are entering Halkidiki region and our very first stop is Nea Moudania. A relatively newly built town (1922) by Greek refugees from Asia Minor. It is the commercial center of Halkidiki region with a big port and shopping centers. We spend 30 minutes in the city and then we proceed to Psakoudia a picturesque seaside village for a quick coffee or snacks. It is also a great location for taking photos of the vast blue Aegean Sea.
Driving on a narrow scenic through a pine forest by the sea, for half an hour or so we reach Nikiti. It is a seaside town well known for olive oil production, beekeeping and of course the fish taverns just in from of the sea. Here you may taste the world known big green Halkidiki olives and excellent pure honey.
Our final destination is Sarti almost on the edge of the peninsula of Sithonia. It is the absolutely perfect combination of sea, crystal clear sandy beaches and mountains. We check in to our rooms at Sarti Panorama hotel or Aristea studios. Plenty of free time for the rest of the day to enjoy a long beach walk or swim at Sarti beach.
For the following 2 days we will explore the amazing nearby beaches where we may spend all day to your favorite one, swimming and sunbathing. We will discover plenty of Sithonia peninsula, one the most wonderful places in Greece along with its people, Greek Mediterranean cuisine and pure local products.
Following scenic roads among pine forest and sandy beaches we will pass by amazing locations with great views. Plenty of photo stops when required.
Last day begins early in the morning by checking out from our hotel and prepare for our way back to Thessaloniki. We make a quick stop to Panagia Ormos, a nearby port and a starting point for Mount Athos boat cruises. Then we visit another nearby amazing beach with breathtaking view and a great chance for photos and selfies.
On our way back we enjoy the scenic road and the great vistas of the sea and also may have quick stops at seaside villages or secluded beaches at Metamorphosis area.
